On May 30th, NuMark Credit Union partnered with Northern Illinois Food Bank (NIFB) to hold a Mobile Food Market for residents of Hope Manor at Joliet’s VA Clinic.
The mobile market ran from 4:00-5:30pm, where NuMark and NIFB volunteers handed out fresh produce, canned goods, and other household grocery needs to residents. Through both organizations’ efforts, they were able to feed 130 families living at Hope Manor.
“This was the first time that I got to work with Northern Illinois Food Bank and help out with a Mobile Market,” said Adam Claiborne, Graphics Coordinator at NuMark. “This experience was so amazing and humbling for me. I feel genuinely honored that I was able to help so many people in just a short time.”
NuMark makes a great effort to participate in a wide variety of community outreach and support opportunities like the mobile food markets; sponsoring local festivals and parades; and raising money to support our veterans. The credit union has been a proud partner of NIFB since 2016, helping to bring food and other household resources to underprivileged communities throughout the suburbs of Chicago. They are honored to help NIFB in its mission to provide food and resources to communities “with dignity, equity and convenience.”
Northern Illinois Food Bank is dedicated to solving hunger by providing nutritious meals to those in need in Boone, DuPage, DeKalb, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, Ogle, Stephenson, Will and Winnebago counties. The organization has also opened centers in Geneva, Park City, Rockford, and Joliet, and is a member of Feeding America.
