Learning the basics of financial responsibility is the key to building future wealth and realizing your life’s dreams.
That’s why youth financial literacy is so important to NuMark Credit Union. In a cooperative effort with Illinois State Treasurer’s Office, NuMark Credit Union offers their award-winning Bank at School program.
Students have the opportunity to open their own savings account and make deposits during special banking days at their school. The banking days are overseen by NuMark Credit Union staff but the transactions are processed by student tellers. At the beginning of the year these tellers are chosen by the school and receive their teller training onsite at NuMark Credit Union. The student tellers learn basic money handling techniques and learn how a credit union operates.
Students who make deposits into their accounts on banking days get a chance to pick out a special prize. Special incentives are offered to classrooms that save the most. Prizes have included a class bowling trip, ice skating party, pizza parties, and more. Each year the student tellers help pick the class incentives.
