Our offices will be CLOSED on Monday, September 7th, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. We will reopen for normal business hours on Tuesday, September 8th.
As a credit union, supporting and serving the surrounding communities of NuMark is a cornerstone of our organization. Our communities are the reason we get to help our members every day, and we like to thank them for all their support by giving back through fundraisers, sponsorships, and volunteer opportunities. That’s why we’re excited to announce that this year, NuMark is partnering with 1340 WJOL to promote 11 Days of Kindness (DOK) in honor of the 25th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.
This collaboration and event were inspired by Kevin Tuerff, founder of the organization Pay It Forward 9/11 and author of the book Channel of Peace: Stranded in Gander on 9/11, and the story of his experience on September 1, 2001. When the flight he was on back to New York had to land unexpectedly in Newfoundland, Canada, he and the other passengers became refugees stuck in the town of Gander, where they were greeted with the town’s kindness and generosity, giving them shelter, food, and comfort in a time of uncertainty. Since then, every year Kevin and his organization encourage people across the country to show that same kindness to others in their communities during the month of September.
Starting on August 31, our NuMark branches will be supporting a wide variety of local businesses and organizations in their surrounding communities to give back. Whether it’s making toys for animals at local shelters, providing lunch for local fire and police departments, or raising money for survivors of abuse, even one small act of kindness can make a world of difference to someone in need. We invite you to join us in spreading and promoting kindness in your community this year in honor of those who showed kindness and generosity to those in need 25 years ago in the wake of September 11, 2001.
“You never truly know the impact a single act of kindness can have. Kindness has a way of spreading far beyond the moment, touching lives in ways we may never see,” said Kari Endres, Chief Marketing Officer at NuMark who initiated the partnership with WJOL. “At its heart, that is what the credit union movement is all about: people helping people. My hope is that during these 11 Days of Kindness, each of us will intentionally brighten someone’s day through a simple kind act. It is one of the most meaningful ways we can honor those we lost on September 11, by coming together to make a positive difference in the lives of others today.”
Stop by your local NuMark branch today to see how they’re supporting your community, and how you can get involved!
