On Monday, October 12, 100 NuMark employees and family members came together for the Illinois Credit Union League’s Annual CU Kind Day to make a difference in the communities we serve.
CU Kind Day was started by the Illinois Credit Union League (ICUL) in 2019 to support and spread kindness throughout our communities. Each year, credit union volunteers come together to donate their time to local organizations by packing food, organizing donations, hosting food drives, and much more. For the 7th Annual CU Kind Day, NuMark was proud to once again give back and help enrich the lives of those in the communities we serve.
This year, NuMark volunteers supported four incredible organizations. One group donated their time at Feed My Starving Children in Aurora, packing 72 boxes of food for children in need, totaling 15,552 meals. Another group sorted 475 bags of donated clothing by size for The Bridge Teen Center thrift store in Tinley Park.
Through a partnership with United Way of Will County, another group participated in a Diaper Depot, creating 130 bundles of diapers that were delivered to the Child Care Resource & Referral Center in Joliet for mothers in need.
To extend our efforts to communities near our western branches, our fourth group spent the day at St. Patrick’s Parish Community Food Pantry in Amboy, where volunteers cleaned the freezer and refrigerator and packed 60 bags of food for neighbors in need.
Additionally, NuMark’s Women in Leadership ERG (Employee Resource Group) collected purses and other donations to fill and donate 18 purses to #LovePurse, an organization dedicated to helping women rebuild their lives after leaving difficult situations by providing new purses filled with everyday essentials.
With this year’s CU Kind Day coming just over a month after our 11 Days of Kindness initiative, we’ve had many opportunities to make a meaningful difference in our surrounding communities. We want to extend our immense thanks to everyone who volunteered their time and energy to support these incredible organizations.
