September 9, 2022 – Did you know that the month of September is Hunger Action Month? It is a time when people all over America stand with the Feeding America nationwide network of food banks to fight hunger. Alongside all 200 Feeding America network food banks, we at NuMark commemorate Hunger Action Month by spreading the word about hunger in our communities, volunteering, advocating, donating and helping raise awareness about hunger.
Our friends at the Northern Illinois Food Bank hosted some special food packing events for Hunger Action Month and our staff at NuMark were happy to volunteer to help! At their Geneva, IL location, our teams along with many other individual volunteers got together to help pack 870 bags of sweet potatoes! This equaled out to around 3,480 pounds of food which would then provide 2,900 meals for hungry neighbors in Northern Illinois.
