NuMark Credit Union Volunteers to Pack Onions for Hunger Action Month

Pack-A-Thon

Did you know that onions are among the most sought after food for families? NuMark Credit Union had the opportunity to partner with the Northern Illinois Food Bank to help deliver that very item.

On September 12th, NuMark family and friends flocked to the South Suburban Center at 171 S Larkin Ave for their second annual packing event. For two hours in a cool warehouse, cheerful volunteers packed bags of onions to help ease hunger for our neighbors. The event was a success! Volunteers packed a total of 26,934 pounds of onions that will equate to 22,445 meals.

Branch Manager, Brittany Doran stated, “I loved that fact that we are helping the people in the community that need that extra help to survive. Life happens and someone you care about might benefit from the food bank. Thanks to the Northern Illinois Food Bank for this event and all that they do!”
