This past Monday was a big day for employees at NuMark Credit Union, and not just because it was a federal holiday – it was also CU Kind Day!
CU Kind Day was started by the Illinois Credit Union League (ICUL) in 2019 to support and spread kindness throughout our communities. It’s a day when volunteers at credit unions across the country get together and donate their time to local charities, packing food, organizing clothing donations, running food drives, and more. This is the 6th Annual CU Kind Day, and NuMark was proud to take part in the fun yet again this year.
For CU Kind Day this year, NuMark spread its efforts to support three different local communities. One group volunteered at The Bridge Teen Center in Orland Park, where they processed donations of clothes, furniture, home goods and much more, for those in need in the community. The team sorted through 370 bags of donations for community members. The second team of volunteers spent their time at St. Patrick’s Food Pantry in Amboy, sorting food donations and packing a total of 76 meal boxes to feed 76 families in need in the community. The third and final group of NuMark volunteers helped out at DuPage Pads, cleaning up the building grounds, restocking their resource room, washing windows, organizing the Communal Library, and serving lunch to those in need at the center.
NuMark functions under the philosophy of “people helping people” that the credit union movement is built on. This includes not only helping our members make the best financial decisions for their futures, but also getting out into our communities to volunteer and make them even better places to live. We love being able to do that every year on CU Kind Day and are looking forward to even more CU Kind Days spent helping our community members in need for the years to come!
