The holidays could be one of the most stressful times in a young child in the hospital, especially one that is confined to his/her room. This year, NuMark has partnered with Team Nicholas for their Building Spirits Lego Drive. Team Nicholas was founded in 2012 by Barton and Joanna Veghts, whose son Nicholas, was diagnosed with mixed type Leukemia and suddenly passed away at 8 years old. The organization is dedicated to helping hospitalized children and their families.
Each year around the holiday season, the organization collects donations to provide Legos for the children for the holidays. The Lego drive starts in November and goes through January, however, Legos are collected all year round. NuMark was able to donate about $175 worth of Legos towards the drive.
Branch Manager of Crest Hill, Brittany Doran, was very excited to help such a great cause. “Our NuMark Family has donated 14 Lego Set’s for Team Nicholas this year. What an amazing foundation to support! I’m excited that we were able to help build spirits for the children that are not able to spend the holidays at home.”
Team Nicholas is also able to help the community in other ways. Each month their founders, Barton and Joanna, serve meals at Edward Hospital. They have hosted 5k Walks/Runs and their program Koins for Kids provides money for children battling cancer and their families. To learn more, visit their website at teamnicholas.org.
