Our NuMark branches will be CLOSED on Monday, February 17th in observance of Presidents’ Day. We will reopen for normal business hours on Tuesday, February 18th.
Staff Members of NuMark Credit Union grabbed their running shoes to raise money for Northern Illinois Food Bank’s 4th Annual Foodie 5K. This fundraiser and festival took place on Saturday, September 9th at Lewis University in Romeoville. The NuMark Credit Union team raised a total of $1,659 for Northern Illinois Food Bank. Money was raised through NuMark Credit Union staff jean days and other personal donations.
“Thank you to everyone who participated on the Foodie 5K team or sponsored our team,” said Jessica Mellen, NuMark Credit Union Vice President of Operations. “It was a beautiful morning to be walking and running for a great local cause.”
In total, the Foodie 5K raised $28,275. Northern Illinois Food Bank can turn a $1 donation into $8 worth of food. As a result of this event, that means they can provide over $226,000 worth of groceries to feed those who need it. Not only is the Foodie 5K a community run/walk and festival, but it also is an opportunity to increase awareness and ask for support for our Northern Illinois Food Bank’s mission of feeding our hungry neighbors.
“This was the first 5K that I have done in years but I am proud to say I finished,” said Vanessa Bravo, NuMark Credit Union Universal Teller. “More than anything I felt so happy to participate in the Foodie 5K to support a noble cause.”
Beginning in October, NuMark Credit Union will offer $15 gift cards to Bakers Square available for sale in their lobbies. These gift cards will be perfect for all your holiday pies. All gift card profits will be donated to Northern Illinois Food Bank to further support their mission.
Recently, the Northern Illinois Food Bank has been requesting support in the hopes of opening a new south suburban distribution center in Will County. The closest facility is currently in Geneva, IL which is approximately 50 miles away. By opening a facility in Will County, the Northern Illinois Food Bank will be able to more efficiently provide nutritious food to both the Will and Kankakee Counties.
Northern Illinois Food Bank is dedicated to solving hunger by providing nutritious meals to those in need in Boone, DuPage, DeKalb, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, Ogle, Stephenson, Will and Winnebago counties. Northern Illinois Food Bank is a member of Feeding America. They have a 4 star out of 4 star rating on Charity Navigator, your guide to intelligent giving.
