NuMark Credit Union Wins First Place Award for Social Responsibility and Community Service

NuMark Credit Union is proud to accept the 2020 Dora Maxwell Award for their work with Veterans and the Northern Illinois Food Bank. Because of their philanthropy, they have won First Place Award for Social Responsibility and Community Service in the National and State Competitions.

“I can’t tell you how much it means to me to accept this award on behalf of NuMark and our team,” says Ann M. Dubie, President & CEO of NuMark Credit Union. “Our mission is to enrich the financial lives of our members and that certainly extends to the communities that we serve. I’ve personally participate in events with Northern Illinois Food Bank and each event is memorable. Helping someone in need is an experience that stays with you.”

By working with Northern Illinois Food Bank, NuMark helps to solve hunger in the community. The need is great and with the spread of the Coronavirus COVID-19, the need is more crucial. 1 in 7 people in Northern Illinois rely on Northern Illinois Food Bank and their network of feeding services. On average, our hungry neighbors visit their feeding programs 8 times per year. Northern Illinois Food Bank is able to provide $8 worth of nutritious food for every $1 they receive. As of February 2020, NuMark has donated over $21,000, which has provided over $168,000 worth of meals to the community.

The number of homeless Veterans growing each year. NuMark Credit Union support Veterans by participating in Wreaths Across America events. Wreaths Across America is an organization that encourages remembrance for our fallen soldiers, honor for those who serve and education of our constitutional freedoms for our youth. Each year, the credit union attends the wreath-laying ceremonies, collects donations in all branches and purchases flags to be placed on the graves of fallen soldiers. In addition, the credit union volunteers at food trucks that serve local veteran housing facilities.

Dubie is always happy to boast about NuMark’s Board of Directors. She states, “I am proud to say that all of our volunteer board members are also Veterans. They have dedicated their lives to serve others. Focusing on Veterans and their needs, that is at the heart of what we do. We are all part of the NuMark Family of people helping people. We take care of our members, each other and our communities. We are proud to be recognized with the 1st Place National Award for Community Service for CUNA’s Dora Maxwell Award.”
