We’ve passed the New Year’s Resolutions, slogged through a messy winter and now it’s time to get real with a 30-Day Challenge. What’s the best thing about a 30-Day Challenge? It only lasts for a short time. If it works, you continue on a new path. If it doesn’t work for you, move on to something else. There are no long-term commitments and no guilt if things don’t work out.
- Buy Generic – Commit to buying store brands at the grocery store. See which ones work for you and which ones don’t. You might be surprised by the quality of the items. Be sure to keep track of the money you save and enjoy a lower grocery bill. Then, going forward add the items you like to your future shopping lists to keep the savings going.
- Make Your Own Meals – This challenge will not only save you money, you might find your waistline thanks you too. This means no runs through the drive-thru. Instead get out your recipes and make a meal list for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We’re not talking gourmet here. We’re looking for quick, tasty meals preferably on the healthier side that might make some leftovers for lunch the next day. You don’t need to do it all yourself; get your spouse and even your kids in on the action or invite a friend over. Think strategic. If this challenge seems too daunting to try all at once, modify it. Commit to making lunch or dinner at home for 30 days.
- Track Your Expenses – For 30 days track every penny you spend to look for spending drains. If this challenge makes you cringe, you are not alone. Don’t worry we can help.
