Free Seminar: M&M Budgeting
Managing our money is a very important part of life. As children, we are taught to save. By kindergarten age, children are already exposed to money. However, the subject of budgeting can fall by the wayside. It takes a village, and NuMark understands that.
That’s why NuMark Credit Union is offering a free seminar on Wednesday, March 27th called, “M&M Budgeting.” This seminar will take place from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at the New Lenox Park District located at 701 W. Haven Ave.
M&M Budgeting is a fun, interactive financial literacy activity designed to teach 6th, 7th and 8th graders budgeting basics. All students receive a bag of M&Ms and will use that as their M&M paycheck. Students separate and organize their M&Ms by color. Each color represents a different budget item from which students can spend their money. Once students have their budget completed, they will visit merchants to purchase clothes, munchies, electronics, entertainment, gifts, and other wants and needs. M&M Budgeting allows participants to make mistakes and go through the steps of creating and using a budget in a realistic, but safe, environment.
Participants do not need to be a NuMark Credit Union Member to take advantage of this FREE Seminar. Seating is limited, so interested participants should register in advance. Call 815-729-3211 to reserve seats. Everyone is welcome to bring friends and family.
