Build a Basic Budget
Managing our money is a very important part of life. As children, we are taught to save. The future can’t be predicted. What if your car did not start tomorrow? What would you do? Over half of Americans would have limited options without a savings account for a rainy day. When thinking about personal finances, the best way is to begin with the end in mind.
For example, if you are taking a road trip, you would not start just jump in the car and drive. First, there would be a completed plan that includes everything needed for a successful trip. With all those factors thought and planned out, how much smoother would the trip go?
The same is true for personal finances. If an individual withdraws cash but can’t recall where the money was spent, there is no process for tracking the spending. This makes it difficult to create a detailed plan to meet short-term and long-term financial goals.
That’s why NuMark Credit Union is offering a free seminar on Tuesday, April 18th called, “Build a Basic Budget: The Five-Step Spending Plan.” This seminar will take place from 6:00pm to 8:00pm the New Lenox Park District located at 701 W. Haven Ave. Find out in step-by-step detail how to create a working budget. Each participant will take away a personal action plan, plenty of ideas for how to save money, and a better understanding of how to track where your money goes.
This seminar is free and all are welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be available at no cost. Participants are encouraged to bring their friends and family. Seating is limited. Reserve your seat online at numarkcu.org or call 815-729-3211.
