First-Time Home Buyer Seminar
We live in an age of “Discover Learning.” When we get a new smart phone, we play until we learn how to use it. When Facebook changes its format we explore and adjust to the new way. At the first moment we download a new app, we discover the cool features in taps.
Purchasing a home is a big financial decision. There are lots of moving parts involved in the process. In this time of “Discover Learning” it’s best to put on the brakes and really learn the process and do research.
There are many things to think about and lots of decisions to be made when purchasing a new home. If you are new to the home buying process it’s important to do your homework to avoid setting yourself up for unnecessary stress and potential financial disaster.
NuMark Credit Union wants to help first-time home buyers by offering a free First-Time Home Buyer Seminar. It will take place on Thursday, August 18th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at their New Lenox office located at 951 E. Lincoln Highway.
This seminar will have a panel of local professionals that all have a role in the home buying processes. The panel will include a real estate agent, home appraiser, home inspector, representative from the Title Company and NuMark Credit Union’s Vice President of Mortgage Lending, Harry Stewart. Participants will get all their questions answered regarding inspecting, buying and closing on their first home.
During the discussion, participants will find out:
- How to successfully select professional real estate service providers and navigate the purchase process.
- What they need to know about the appraisal process.
- How to make sure they are prepared, so closing day runs smoothly.
- What to look for when purchasing a home.
- What steps to take to protect their investment.
- And so much more.
“The trick is to know how to successfully navigate through the home buying processes,” said Harry Stewart, NuMark Credit Union Vice President of Mortgage Lending. “This free seminar is time well spent. The information you learn could save you thousands of dollars on your first home purchase,” said Stewart.
NuMark Credit Union mortgage staff will be available to pre-qualify people if they so desire. Those looking to pre-qualify will need to bring the last three months of bank statements, the last two years of federal tax returns with W-2’s and the last 30 days of pay stubs. Today’s housing market is quite attractive for those looking to make the move to their first home. “Although interest rates have slightly increased, home prices are still low and first-time home buyers can still get a great deal on a home,” said Stewart.
Participants do not need to be a NuMark Credit Union member to take advantage of this FREE Seminar. Seating is limited, so interested participants should register in advance. Call NuMark Credit Union at 815-729-3211 or reserve your seat here.
